Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) developed by American psychiatrist Professor Aaron Beck in the early 1960s.
In recent years CBT has expanded its focus to include a so-called third wave of psychotherapies, which includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy (ST). These approaches focus on the way you think and/or the way you behave.
