I am a Psychologist in Psychotherapy working integratively, drawing from psychodynamic and C.B.T. approaches. My clinical experience began in 2010 since obtaining my psychology degrees. I have worked in the field of counselling and psychotherapy in Italy and here in London from 2016. I have worked for a number of organisations helping young people and their family, Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services and in the Italian Hospital. My areas of speciality include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, couples work, panic disorder, personality disorders health problems, isolation, childhood abuse, trauma, anger and post-traumatic stress. I am able to offer both short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy, taking into account the nature of clients' concerns and needs. I am an integrative practitioner meaning I am able to draw on my knowledge of psychodynamic the cognitive-behavioural (CBT) approach to help reduce psychological distress and to enhance psychological well-being. I have a degree in psychology, a Masters in psychodynamic psychotherapy and a post-MA diploma in legal/forensic psychology. I am registered with the Italian Ordine degli Psicologi Abruzzo region.
Therapy is a place for you to be completely true to yourself, giving you time to talk, cry, shout as well as to think and reflect. And it’s my job to gain your trust and so allow all that to happen, accepting you totally as you are with no cloud of judgement. It’s definitely not about gazing back over your life and analysing every little thing that’s gone wrong for you in the past. Instead, our focus will be firmly on the future, on how you want to be, and how you want to feel, next week, next month, and next year. I work predominantly within a cognitive behavioural approach, or CBT. The C is about understanding any ‘thinking styles’ which may be keeping us stuck in life, while the B emphasises any positive behavioural changes we need to learn, at the same time un-learning unhelpful behaviours that keep holding us back. But making change implies taking action—actions you’ve been avoiding, or a novel approach we may formulate during therapy—and taking action inevitably entails anxiety. But it’s our relationship to that anxiety which matters, ‘observing’ and understanding it—as opposed to always being caught up in it—and seeing it as a transient emotion, knowing that what goes up always comes down.
I love my work as a therapist and I’m extremely passionate about what I do. The work is often challenging—for both therapist and client—but having experienced the process of therapy myself, I fully appreciate the extraordinary benefits it can have in our lives, present and future. No-one deserves to be unhappy or afraid, and for me it’s endlessly gratifying to see my clients making positive and lasting changes in their lives, knowing where they want to be, and now confidently on a path to getting there.
Since my early teens, I'am passionate about psychiatric diclipline starting read many books about it. I read at the begin Freud, which first signited my interest in human psychology. Nowadays, I enjoy learning about history, methods and techniques especially concerning prominent figures and movements which have helped world psychology. I love creativity in its all forms, having a particular eye for the Renaissance and the complexity of Leonardo’s intelligence. I love my Italian culture, food and enjoying people. I love very much the animals, especially the cats and balance such indulgences with keeping fit and healthy by swimming and jogging in the park. I also have a personal interest in spirituality and try to enjoy a daily meditative practice.
