Paying at the time of booking guarantees your appointment. You can cancel and ask for a full refund as long as you do so up to 48 hours before your session starts in order not to be charged the full fee.
Yes, we offer new clients the option to book a 15 min. telephone consultation with a therapist before their first session for only £1.
When you first book a session we ask you to enter your credit or debit card details to pay for the session and payment is taken immediately by Stripe - our chosen payment provider. This card will be stored on Stripe and used for your subsequent appointments. Your card data (card number, CVV code etc) is never disclosed to us. Stripe sends us an authorisation token that allows us to charge your card. You can revoke this authorisation at any time. Stripe is PCI compliant which means they meet the highest security for protecting your details, as demanded by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
After the first session, payment will be taken immediately for sessions you book on the International Psychology Clinic website. Payment will be taken 48 hours in advance of the session start time when booked by your therapist on the International Psychology Clinic website. You can ask for a refund provided you give 48 hours notice.
We do not accept payments on site.
If you are looking to access therapy via private health insurance we advise you to check with your insurer before booking a session, and ensure you comply with their pre-authorisation policy. In most cases your insurance will provide you with an authorisation code that will enable us to invoice them directly. In some circumstances, you will need to pay for your sessions and claim the cost subsequently from your private insurer.
Our therapists work with the following insurance companies: WPA, AVIVA, CIGNA, BUPA International and most US insurance policies. We do not accept BUPA UK & AXA PPP as unfortunately they do not cover the therapists’ fees. If you are a member of BUPA UK or AXA PPP and wish to use our services you will need to self-fund your treatment.
The cost of therapy varies depending on where you live, and the therapists' knowledge, skills and years of experience.
Our London therapy rooms are located in Kensington W8, Marylebone NW1, Oxford Circus W1, Shoreditch E1, Islington N1 and London Bridge SE1. We also provide an international therapy service for expats in Europe which lists quality psychologists who practice from their own rooms or online via Skype.
Friends and family can make appointments for other people, if they have their consent.
The patient should always be aware that an appointment has been made and confirm with our dedicated admin team they are happy for that appointment to go ahead.
The full fee will be charged for all sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours notice. We offer a maximum of 1 free cancellation with a minimum of 48 hours notice in any 10 weeks period. The full fee will be charged for additional cancellations regardless of notice period.
In the event of exceptional circumstances (such as holidays, business travels etc.), a Skype or Telephone session will be offered as a replacement to a face to face session and if this is declined then cancellation charges will still apply as above.
You need to inform your psychologist directly, by text or email, of any cancellations or amendments to your appointments and give as much notice as possible so that your therapist will be able to offer you a replacement Skype or Telephone session.
Health insurance clients may forfeit a session as a result of cancellations. Please note that some Insurers do not cover for missed appointments. We advise you to check with your Insurer prior to starting treatment.
Therapy sessions need to occur regularly to see benefits of treatment. Sessions usually take place at the same time each week, unless otherwise agreed with your psychologist. During your first session, your psychologist will agree regular appointments with you at a time that is suitable for you both.
In the event of exceptional circumstances (such as holidays, business travels etc.), a Skype or Telephone session will be offered as a replacement to a face to face session and if this is declined then cancellation charges will apply.
Upon booking your first therapy appointment you are booking a weekly recurring appointment until you explicitly end therapy.
You can end therapy at any time. If you wish therapy to stop for any reason after the first treatment visit, you should notify your psychologist directly in writing by text or email and, whenever possible, allow at least one or two more sessions to give time for working through any issues and feelings that arise.
If you wish to continue therapy after your first session, you will negotiate and plan to end therapy directly with your psychologist.
If you arrive late for your session, the session will still end at the same time. If you arrive early, please wait in reception and your psychologist will come to collect you on time.
