I am a Private Counselling Psychologist in London. I have been practising as a psychologist since 2003 and I gained experience in a number of settings such as: Two NHS Primary Care Services, a Psychotherapy Department, a Drug and Alcohol Team, a Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team and a psychiatric acute mental health ward and a Community Mental Health Recovery Service. In addition, I have also been working in the private sector since 2013, when I gained a Life/Business Coaching qualification, which is accredited to the International Coaching Federation. Since then, I have providing team coaching interventions within NHS teams in order to improve their effectiveness. Alongside this, I have also been working as a psychologist within a private clinic since 2014, providing psychological therapy to individual corporate clients and group stress management workshops within large corporate organisations. I am Chartered with the British Psychological Society and Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
I have been trained in seven different therapeutic approaches: Person Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Meriden Behavioural Family/Couple Therapy, Coaching Psychology and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. I predominantly use a CBT approach, but I tailor my approach and use different therapy tools according to the your needs and readiness to change and to the research evidence around your presenting issues.
I am a believer in the importance of self-knowledge, understanding and self-compassion as the basis of one’s ability to make choices in life. My approach is in the here and now, but I do need to rewind back to your earlier life experiences at the start of therapy to understand and formulate hypotheses about the reasons for your current triggers and responses to life events.
I believe that you bring all the knowledge about yourself that is needed for us to collaboratively set goals for our sessions. We will review those goals regularly as your needs may change while you develop new awareness and insights into your current issues. I am passionate about seeing and bringing out the best in each person and I believe that everyone deserves a chance to live their life to their full potential. This is were I can blend coaching tools into my psychology practice once you feel that you are ready to take the challenge.
I take a positive, non-judgmental and encouraging approach and I work towards building a sustainable plan before the end of Therapy for you to continue making progress in your life on your own if you wish to do so. We can also plan follow up sessions to review this plan on a regular basis.
I enjoy exercise and I am proud to say that I run 4 full marathons in 4 years. I enjoy nature walks and I am also an experienced meditator. I love spending time with my family and going on days out with them. I like travelling to new countries and enjoy improving my languages skills.
I hold a GCSE in Spanish and I can speak fluent Italian (mother tongue) English (I have been in London uninterruptedly since 1997), Spanish and French. I can also speak conversational Portuguese and Russian. I have an interest in Religion and Spirituality and how to integrate those into therapy and I conducted and wrote my own Doctoral Research Study on this topic whilst training as a psychologist.
