I am an English speaking Psychologist in Rome and am Chartered with The Italian Psychological Society. I graduated with honours in Psychology at La Sapienza University of Rome. My training is in Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychological Rehabilitation. I am also undertaking a four-year Gestalt Psychotherapy training at the Italian Gestalt Society of Rome.
I have worked for a number of organisations that offer psychological support to adolescents and young adults with psychiatric and/or psychosocial conditions. I have also worked in the field of evaluation and rehabilitation of neuropsychological conditions at the Center for the Medicine of Ageing of A. Gemelli Hospital of Rome and in a psychiatric intensive care unit at S. Andrea Hospital of Rome.
I am currently working as a Research Psychologist in the fields of psychology and psychiatry and as a Therapist in a private service in Rome. I am experienced in working with teenagers, adults, couples and families. My areas of speciality include abuse, anger problems, anxiety, depression, trauma, work-related stress, relationship and family issues, sexuality and gender identity issues.
Gestalt is a positive and practical integrative therapeutic approach where the focus is on the relationship between people and their environment. Gestalt Therapy helps clients to focus on their immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour and to better understand the way they relate to others. This increased awareness can help people to find a new perspective, see the bigger picture and start to effect changes. The goal is to enhance insight, self-awareness and problem solving strategies, which ultimately allow the individual to become an expert of his own mental wellbeing.
According to Gestalt Theory, the individual and the environment represent a unique ecosystem, and the interaction between the two is what allows growth and regulation. Psychological distress is therefore seen as a creative process of adjustment to external stressors. In therapy I will guide you through a process of exploration of your life experiences, where the focus will be on various aspects of yourself, including cognitive, emotional, physical, imaginative, relational and spiritual ones.
In my role as a Therapist I strongly value the importance of offering a safe and nonjudgmental space to all my clients, which allows to express themselves freely. Throughout therapy I will support your learning about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, which will in turn promote your self-awareness. As a Gestalt practitioner I believe that the setting and the therapeutic relationship is the ideal training ground where a client can observe, experiment and integrate new aspects of his personality, based on his direct experience with the therapist.
Being really passionate about exploring different cultures of the world, I like to spend my free time cooking traditional Italian food as well as foreign recipes for friends and family. I also really enjoy travelling and am drawn to sports that involve nature, such as skiing or scuba diving. I’m very grateful to be able to satisfy this insatiable curiosity for the world’s different cultures and lifestyles also through my work as a psychologist that allows me to meet people from all over the globe.
